Well done to Lucas and Amelia. We’re all so proud of your hard work.
Year 1 have been very busy since starting back at school!
We have been exploring our new theme of ‘Superheroes’ .
We have designed our own superheroes, created gadgets for them ,wrote lists of their special super powers and formed some superhuman sentences!
We have also been thinking about real life super heroes and their talents.
If you could create your own super hero what would their name be ?
What powers would they have? Please comment below.
A big event can make it feel like the world is falling apart,
But there are millions of tiny acts of KINDNESS still holding it together <3
Recently, we invited our Year 1 parents into our classroom to find out more about this year’s phonics screening check. We showed them some of the games we play in class to help develop our reading skills and showed them how they can join in at home. Our children had lots of fun being the teacher for their mummies and daddies 🙂
Here are the links to some of the sites we explored:

Today we have made our snowmen gifts in class. We created a face and some ear muffs for our snowmen before adding marshmallows and chocolate as a treat. We hope all of Year 1 have a happy and holy Christmas. Enjoy the holidays!!
The Year 1 Team
We know Christmas is a very exciting time of the year but it is very important to remember just why we are celebrating!
In year 1 we have been thinking about and preparing for the birth of Jesus. We created our own class Advent calendar (complete with chocolate) to remind us that we are counting down to a very special day!
We have also been very busy practicing for our KS1 Nativity. We are hoping that our wonderful acting skills and fabulous singing voices will really help everybody to remember that Christmas is a time to spread joy and happiness!
Today we had a very special visitor in school- Father Christmas! We all loved meeting him and promised to be very good!!
Miss Stones, Mrs Wright and Mrs Kettle would love to welcome you back into year 1!We hope you’ve had a great summer and are ready to start a year full of exciting learning.
Our first topic is SUPERHEROES! We will be designing and creating our own superheroes in class before describing them and their superhero powers.
If you could create a superhero…
What would be their name?
What special powers would they have
What gadgets would they use?
What costume would they wear?
